Tommy Bahama Sandestin: The Only Pullover You Need!

The Tommy Bahama Sandestin location is an adventure in itself. From the bar to the restaurant to the shop, you can easily kill a few hours. I have officially stolen all of Ruthie’s New Aruba Half-Zip Sweatshirts and even my Dad’s salmon-colored Coolside Island Zone Half Zip.

How Did Tommy Bahama Get Its Name?

I love the history of the Tommy Bahama brand. In the 1980s, Tony Margolis, Bob Emfield and their wives mused about never leaving the beach (I can relate). This led to the invention of a character named Tommy Bahama. By asking “What would Tommy wear?” and imagining the details of his life, they unwittingly created the springboard for a new brand and the Tommy Bahama Group, Inc.

I stopped in to the restaurant with Ruthie while we were visiting my Aunt Jojo. The wait was over an hour, so we breezed through the shop and ended up eating at a Mexican place with skinny margaritas. All was not lost as Tommy Bahama shares a few of their special recipes that you can even make at home!

Being so excited to eat at the one and only Tommy Bahama Sandestin Restaurant made me laugh about how my 12-year old self used to dread going into the Tommy Bahama store!! 😂

Usually, it was when we were on vacation, after lunch, and I just needed a nap lol. My poor Mom would take me to any store I wanted and buy me beautiful new things. My mom, however, is a Tommy Bahama model. She looked good in all the colors and the My whole family is outfitted in the hallmark collared shirt and sweater.

Now the brand is sentimental to me. My mom owned this pullover in every color. A purple one for JMU Football tailgates. A white one for River Happy Hour. I’m actually wearing that one layered in The Best Camel Brown Puffer Coat Under $50.

I love Tommy Bahama now because of all the sweet memories I have with my mom wearing the outfits. That sounds cheesy but idc.

How I Started Wearing Tommy Bahama

I came home to Chesapeake from Asheville unexpectedly for 2 weeks in December after my mom’s injury. I got a call from my dad at 8pm, so I packed what I could. In the back of my head, I could hear my mom say, “There’s nothing you need to stress about that we can’t buy when we get there.

The very first time I put on the Tommy Bahama pullover was back in July 2020 when Mike & I moved in with them. Once I put the pullover on, it was game over. Ruthie was never getting those back, lol.

Difference in The Fabric
