When people saw that it was 20 degrees with flurries on New Years Eve, they asked me why we chose San Antonio. Well, I’ll tell you!
In July, we started brainstorming where we wanted to go for New Years Eve. Naturally, we googled the top places to celebrate in the USA. San Antonio was one of the top ranked places to celebrate new year eve because of their huge bash on the river walk! We thought it would be a great place for us because we had never been before. After all, Texas is warm in December, right?
Umm wrong! Lol. San Antonio had a freak cold front come in, and nobody in town was really prepared for precisely how cold it was. The town happened to be having their tricentennial celebration for 2018, so what is usually a big party turned into the biggest party you’ve ever seen. Our hotel was right in the middle of it too! We had perfect access to the concerts and we could see all of the action from the room.
My Uncle Willie is a huge history buff, and we are so glad he was able to come on this trip with us! He was the best tour guide out there!! The poor guy flew from Florida to meet us, and we nearly froze him to death!
I think we were so exhausted from flying in late and shivering all day that we fell asleep well before the ball dropped. We didn’t even bother with going to see any of the concerts! Some of our favorite restaurants:
- Boudro’s
- Pharm Table
- The Cove
- Biga on the Banks
- Rosario’s
I hope we get to go back one day when it isn’t so freezing cold! The way the riverwalk lights up at night is so beautiful and unlike any place I’ve been before. I’m so glad I got to share this place with 2 guys that are so near to my heart!
The hat and scarf were from H & M. They are discontinued, but they were sooo warm!! I linked some similar options and my coat.
xx, Chelsea
