Pleated Leopard Midi Skirt
Honeyyy 🙌 This pleated leopard midi skirt is my new favorite thing! It was kind of a challenge to style, but that is exactly why I love it. I think everyone deserves a statement piece like this in their summer wardrobe!
Pleated midi skirts and leopard print have been all over the place this season, and the trends are predicted to last. Pleating is an interesting trend, but if I gotta buy in, then I’m starting with this skirt. It’s like the gateway drug into the whole world of metallic pleated midi skirts that are flying off shelves rn.
Team Cami vs. Team Bodysuit
I paired this pleated leopard midi skirt with a tucked-in, white cami. A bodysuit like this would have been better, but I just gravitate towards this cami bc it has a built-in shelf bra. For a jacket, I grabbed my Ralph Lauren denim jacket. The style was a limited edition, but there’s an almost identical and much cheaper style here. Pairing the denim with the leopard gives it the perfect amount of contrast for a girly-yet-street-style vibe. You could even throw on a pair of all-white Adidas sneakers and complete that lewk.
Instead of going mega street style, I opted for a glam, date night look and threw on these black strappy heels. This black clutch bag from Amazon would have been so perfect to top the outfit off. I ordered it on Friday but couldn’t wait to wear this skirt, lol. I was so happy to find that bag for so cheap! It’s the best knockoff of STAUD I’ve seen!
So if you’re not a leopard person, that’s cool too. Own what you love. But if there is a statement piece in your closet that you have been struggling to style, do it tomorrow! That’s my challenge for ya!
My Big Oops
MG had a blast on his bachelor “man hike” weekend in Asheville, NC. He came home alllll scratched up with some pretty wild stories about finding a chihuahua on the trail and almost being taken down in a river.
While he was away, I did some serious damage to the house (oops). Because MG works at night and sleeps during the day, we have blackout drapes stapled into our 3 bedroom windows. Yeah girl, I said stapled. Like surgical grade.
I started thinking to myself, there’s GOT to be a way to compromise so that it can be 100% dark in the day, but also have the option to transition and let light in when he isn’t working.
After 2 years of living in a bedroom that never sees the light of day, I honestly just started feeling sad. You go into the bedroom to fold laundry, change the sheets, etc. on a Saturday afternoon, but it’s pitch black dark, and you come out feeling like you don’t even know what time of day it is! I didn’t even know how much light affected me until it wasn’t there anymore.
Soooo you can probably guess what is coming.
I ripped out the blackout curtains like Nene Leakes on a t shirt, and installed a double-rod system. BUT BUT BUT. The curtains I saw in stock online were actually not in stock, so I had to buy another type. It was dark af in the room, but if you opened your eyes and stared at the window, um duh you could see an infinitesimal stream of light. Can you tell I’m bitter, lol? Mostly mad at myself for not thinking the plan through and just going HAM ripping down those curtains. Shoulda known better!! Gotta be quicker than that when it comes to that boy. 🙂
If you have any tips on making a room completely blackout yet transitional to light, let ya girl know!
Thanks for reading this NOVEL. Hope you have the best day!
xx, Chelsea
