Posted this blue & white striped jumpsuit on my Instagram and within minutes got a ton of messages about how cute it is! I knew it would be a favorite, so I asked MG to take a few extra photos to post here.
You can do so much with a casual blue & white striped jumpsuit. Switch out the white espadrille sandals for white sneakers, denim jacket for white denim jacket. You can dress it up with nude wedges and a white fringe cardigan, the possibilities go on!
This jumpsuit came from Apricot Lane VB, but I found some nearly identical (and more affordable tbh) dupes. The gorgeous back on this Kia Striped Jumpsuit just screams brunch date. This Striped Wide-Leg Smocked Jumpsuit from Forever 21 has the cutest bow straps and under $25. This Amazon Tie-Waist Jumpsuit comes in pink, green, blue, and black stripe and under $32 with 1500 reviews. My jacket is also boutique, but I love this BlankNYC Denim Jacket. Shoes are last summer, but this year’s studded espadrilles are here. GOAT laptop backpack is here!
Not to mention, this is the summer of the casual jumpsuit. I for one am putting my cutoff shorts on the back burner and choosing clothes that are just a little more comfortable and quicker to style. I thought coming home from Baltimore would give me all the time in the world to do things….but my “to do” list grows every day. 😂
The History of Jumpsuits
Come to find out, the first ever jumpsuit was created in 1919 by Thayat (a Florentine designer) in an effort to give sky divers a more practical piece of clothing. So it is literally a jump suit, lol.
It cracks me up that since the beginning of time, we have taken men’s clothing and made it part of our daily wardrobe. I’ll never forget my mom coming to visit me in college…I had on an XXL t shirt and Nike shorts and she was like “child, since when are we wearing men’s clothes?”
In 1930, Elsa Schiaparelli brought the first fashionable jumpsuit to the Paris runway. It was an exclusive design and only the rich rich were wearing them. Then in 2002, Nicolas Ghesquière, who was designing at Balenciaga at the time, began experimenting with fabrics and patterns, sending an updated jumpsuit down the runway. This is the casual and attainable jumpsuit we know and love today.
Not sure if you even wanted to know the history of jumpsuits, but you know I am always curious about that stuff lol. So now we know!
Going to post an update on our new living situation soon, so stay tuned! I cannot believe how fast our home went under contract. If you missed the post, you can read it here: Our First Home is for SALE.
Thank you for reading! Hope you have a lovely Wednesday.
