I’m not big on the “Mama” or “Mom” gear. What about you?! I mean, I spent years of my life with my school, sport, and sorority embossed across my chest. Now, I want to walk around as *mysterious* as possible. I say this fully knowing that I’m not a mom, lol.
First, we must revisit the cardinal rules of Mother’s Day gift giving.
- Moms have everything. Even if you think they don’t know they need something. They want something special.
- Deep down, most moms want your quality time. If you are long distance (I wasn’t able to see my mom last yr living in Balti), you can spend “quality time” procuring a heartfelt gift and card.
- When in doubt, give a gift card for botox.
1. Mimosa Candle
If I had to make a candle that embodied my mom’s persona, it would be part Mimosa. You can clean out the candle wax after use and repurpose into a makeup brush holder. See #11 for the perfect card pair.
2. Corksicle Blue & White Hydrangea Cups
When I saw these, I said YES immediately yes, I need. My favorite flower is a blue hydrangea. These fun, printed cups come in a wine tumbler, mug, water bottle, and travel tumbler.
3. Photo Book
A classic for any occasion. I gave my mom a wedding photo album for Mother’s Day last year. It is so fun to look through the book every couple of weeks. Take a peek at those photos in Our Wedding Reception at Smithfield Winery.
4. Gratitude-Led Journal
I love Morgan Harper Nichols. Her Instagram is one of my favorites to follow. She thoughtfully developed this beautiful and inspirational journal. Write a note to your mom in the front of the journal and she will cherish it forever.
Bonus points if you fill out a blank journal with little 1 minutes notes each day for a year. A scripture. A quote. A memory. It’s on my bucket list to make one for all my most important people.
5. Cup & Saucer
While Mom is writing in her journal, she can sip her tea out of a sweet mug & saucer. Or while you are writing in a journal for Mom, you can gift her the mug for future readings lol. If you’ve been following on my IG stories, you know that drinking out of a mug & saucer has elevated my mornings. It’s a “happiness hack” that I learned from my friend Kathleen Barnes. It works.
6. Colored Matches
Fire safety, but make it chic. These matches come in almost every color imaginable. They are countertop worthy. Plz check these out.
7. Mother of Pearl Candle
Nacre is a gorgeous addition to a home. Mother of Pearl differs from Pearl as it is the inner layer that forms the pearl It is strong and resilient. There is a symbolic connection bt real human mothers and mother of pearl in there. You can write that in her card.
8. Vintage Jewelry Bowl
Wedgewood Jasperware melts hearts of moms everywhere. This may make my Mother’s Day Gifts 2021 under $50 every year.
9. Pearl & Bow Earrings
Dainty & elegant. Just like her.
10. Watercolor Crest Linen Napkins
It’s just an observation, but as women get older, they start to value things like good towels and color-coordinating napkins. Mom will deffo cry if you create a custom watercolor family crest and have it printed on napkins for the holidays.
11. Handwritten Card
I could spend hours reading cards in Paper Source. One of my fondest memories is going in Hallmark with my Nanny and picking out cards for each other. This one is a perfect pair for the mimosa candle.
12. Blank Note Cards
Moms always have stamps and a stockpile of “emergency cards”. Or is that just my mom? Gifting these beautiful blue ginger jar cards will make her smile.
13. Bow Napkin Rings
Moms also love to change out their tablescapes and throw pillows. These bows are unique and can live through any season. We love bows.
14. Cheese Board
My aunt gave me an Anthro cheese board, and it is still one of my very favorite kitchen pieces. You can’t be sad when you’re eating off a beautiful cheese board. It’s the law.
15. Gold Cheese Knives
With the cheese board, my aunt also gave me cheese markers and a beautiful set of gold cheese knives. Never underestimate what a beautiful knife set will do to you mentally.
16. Monogram Vase
These Mark & Graham vases are beautiful. Fill them with fresh Trader Joe’s peonies. Congrats, you are now the favorite kid.
That’s all! Now go order before it’s the day of and you’re walking around Target like…….why didn’t I order something sooner.
