Ultra Violet
Pantone deemed Ultra Violet (18-3838) as the Color of 2018. This blue-based purple was chosen for its “mystical” and “spiritual” qualities. Historically, this color has been used in religious places and the color symbolizes community and connection. Personally, I like it because it is similar to my birthstone (amethyst). The Pantone Color Institute has been navigating the fashion forecasting since 1963 when they introduced the “Pantone Matching System” with 500 colors. Now, their color communication system has over 1,300 colors. They have an uber sophisticated brand color development program, and I have a lot of respect for them.
